- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)
To Strengthen and Grow Your Relationship
Building Deeper, Lasting Bonds
- Are you in a relationship where you feel you are continually arguing?
- Not feeling understood?
- Feeling inadequate or insecure?
- Do you find yourself having the same arguments over and over again with your partner?
- Afraid to approach your partner for comfort?
- Are you feeling like you've reached a roadblock and aren't sure what to do next?
Note: Due to some issues with insurance companies covering couples therapy services, I am currently only taking on couples therapy cases who either have Lyra health insurance or who are paying out of pocket at this time.
Evidence‑based couples therapy from one of Chicago’s few formally trained EFT specialists.
When selecting a couple’s therapist, it is essential that they have formal training to ensure your relationship is in good hands. Surprisingly, many therapists have little to no formal training in couples therapy, and that’s not a gamble you want to take at such a vulnerable time in your relationship. You can get a sense of whether someone is more qualified if they can articulate specific trainings or approaches they use with couples versus speaking in broader, vague terms.
I specialize in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), one of the most effective couples approaches validated by 30+ years of research. I am one of few therapists in Chicago with advanced formal training in EFT. EFT originated by Dr. Sue Johnson and has emerged as one of the only couples therapy approaches proven by research to be effective, with 90% of couples experiencing improvement in their relationship. EFT helps improve a couple’s connection and communication first by deescalating conflict patterns and then promoting a deep understanding of underlying needs and emotions to develop stronger, lasting bonds.
When participating in Couples Therapy with me, you can expect to:
- Uncover patterns you and your partner get stuck in that leave you feeling disconnected
- Learn how to rework negative patterns and deescalate conflicts
- Improve your ability to communicate underlying needs more effectively
- Gain a deeper understand of who your partner is, what they need in a relationship, and how you can help each other find mutual satisfaction
- Strengthen your sense of security in your relationship, which often leads to improved intimacy and sex
I also work well with LGBTQ, kink, and non-traditional couples and understand additional layers that factor into these relationships.
